LONDON (AP) - Supermodel Claudia Schiffer appealed Thursday to finance ministers of the world's richest countries not to "turn a blind eye" to the plight of many developing countries at their meeting to discuss debt relief and aid this weekend.
The German star posed with pictures of British Treasury chief Gordon Brown and the rest of the world's leading money men on the streets of central London to show her backing for the Global Call to Action Against Poverty, spearheaded by musician Bob Geldof.
IK note: Sure. She appeals to me too, but doesn't it seem weird that supermodels and rock stars have more influence than our elected leaders?
