    Ahhh. More Québec Democracy

ik - ahhhh. I love the smell of Québec tolerance. This from a chat room:

Just because a bunch of uptight anglos in the West Island withsticks stuck up their backsides moan about their lack of rights. In fact asI have stated before anglophones have far more rights than they should compared to any other minority group in Quebec.

Help me out here. The only rights anglos have are those protected by the Canadian Charter, right? Everyone goes on and on about all the rights Anglos have in Québec, but I can't find any. Here is the Québec Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Nothing about English rights in there anywhere. I mean, lots of practices, and lots of references to Anglo institutions (not quite sure what those are, either. McGill maybe?) but nothing that's actually protected anywhere. You know, things that would make them... "rights." And, don't forget that under Québec law, English-quebeckers, despite being the largest minority group in the province, are excluded from the definition of "minority" under affirmative action legislation. Nice!

    More myth mongering?

Maybe it's just veeerrrrry different on the West Island.
