    My (Real) Endorsement

I read on someone's blog recently that, because the election was on, s/he wouldn't be commenting on anything political. What a crock! Does that stop all the other commentators from waxing on about their own views? We need MORE bloggers during the campaign. Otherwise, elections really WILL become what Kim Campbell said they were, a time NOT to talk about the issues. And frankly, in my part of the country, we desparately need more discussion of issues and less rhetoric and myth-making and generally avoiding real challenges through hyperbole and (borderline criminal) innuendo. No names named.

So, it should be of no surprise that I am officially declaring my colours: I'm voting Liberal. Would I vote differently if I lived outside of Québec, where there is actually a choice? Probably not. The Liberals are the only ones talking about the issues responsibly. They are telling it like it is for the most part. And I think that's why they're not doing all that well: nobody wants realism. Ya, they haven't found their stride in the campaign yet, and they've made a few gaffes, but so have the other parties. But a gaffe from the opposition doesn't get played up by the Press like a gaffe from the Government.

So, do what you want. I respect your view, and your right to express it, within the limits of reason and fairness, of course. But I'm voting Liberal. And I think if you cleared out all the noise in this election, you'd see that they are the only ones who are trying to move us forward, positively, together. And, if you know me, you know that those are my core values.
