Ok. I have a new project which may see me back here from time to time. I have discovered some whopping parallels between current Québec language legislation, particularly as it relates to the English speaking minority, and the much hated Reglement 17 in Ontario, which has been mythologized as the great assimilationist tool of "les Anglais." Seems to me that an awful lot of what was evil back then, as it related to francophones, is government policy today as it relates to anglophones.
Could I have been inspired by recent events at a Cornwall hospital? We'll never know.
Anyway, once I get past my annual year-end crazy period, I intend to do a comparative analysis of the situation. Maybe I'm wrong. I hope so.
