ik - yet another example of how Canadian federalism is inflexibile, and a barrier to Québec's aspirations.
Doer backs PM's plans for Quebec
BILL CURRY
OTTAWA -- Don't expect any premier envy as Prime Minister Stephen Harper devotes more time and attention to Quebec, Manitoba Premier Gary Doer says.
Mr. Doer said he fully supports the Prime Minister's plan to give Quebec a unique role at international forums such as UNESCO and la Francophonie.
He said that he has met directly with the President of Iceland, "and the sky didn't fall."
The Prime Minister and all the premiers discussed the country as a whole when they met at 24 Sussex Dr. last month, and Mr. Doer said there is broad support for Quebec Premier Jean Charest's ideas on how to improve the federation.
