o Provided a wide-range of technical and policy advice to First Nation clients on all issues related to the negotiation of two self‑government agreements between Canada and the Meadow Lake Tribal Council and its nine member First Nations in Saskatchewan, and the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation in Manitoba

o Represented client First Nations in negotiations and in several all‑party technical work groups

Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples Ottawa, Ontario

Struck in 1991, the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples was a major undertaking by the Government of Canada to study the entire range of issues affecting Aboriginal Peoples in Canada. It released its Final Report ion 1996, which contained more than 4,000 pages of analysis, and 440 recommendations for sweeping changes to the relationship between Canada and Aboriginal people. A decade later, its findings remain of critical importance.

o Participated, as a member of the North Policy Team, in the research and writing of a detailed policy paper on the role of the traditional economy in the lives of northern Aboriginal peoples

o Assisted with the research required for the drafting of the Final Report (particularly chapters relating to the North, Health and Governance)
